Programma

At the Online Activistbar, you get the opportunity to engage in a live video conversation with several local, national and international activists. What are they fighting for, how does this impact their life? What are their worries and what are their dreams?

The aim of the Activistbar is to create interaction and dialogue between human rights defenders and people interested in human rights, to raise awareness about human rights issues. We know from our own experience that a personal conversation with a human rights defender can be a very powerful experience.

Due to the current circumstances, a live event is no longer possible. However, luckily we live in an era with many digital alternatives. Via ZOOM, you will be divided over several small group sessions in which you can have a live video chat with an activist. After 20 minutes the groups will be reorganized, placing you with a new activist.

On the 6th of August, approximately ten activists will be going online during the Online Activistbar. Among them:

  • Dayna Ash, founder of the non-profit arts organization heaven for Artists based in Beirut, Lebanon
  • Atnafu Brhane, Ethiopian human rights activist, co-founder of Zone9, and active for the Center of Advancement of Rights and Democracy.
  • Rosa Hofgärtner, climate activist who sailed to the UN Climate Conference COP25 in 2019 through Sail To The COP.
  • Tori Tsui, climate activist and environmental communicator who featured as an agent of change in Stella McCartney's campaign as an Extinction Rebellion activist.
  • Milou Deelen, feminist en journalist who writes about slut-shaming, menstruation en contraception.
  • Tayfun Balcik, Program coordinator for the Dutch-Armenian-Kurdish-Turkish workgroup of The Hague Peace Projects, a dialogue project to reduce tensions between these groups and encourage cooperation.
  • Anna Perlini, Co-founder of Per un Mondo Migliore, a humanitarian organization active in the former Yugoslavia

The event will be free, however, you do need to sign up in advance!

So don't miss out! Sign up for the Activistbar today!
